Zone-based systems ideal for smaller buildings: shops, offices and light industrial units. The panel indicates the zone of origin when an alarm activates.

BS 5839 Categories — What Does Your Building Need?
Break-glass call points only. Minimum legal requirement for smaller premises where occupants can detect a fire themselves.
Automatic detection to protect escape routes (L3), sleeping risk areas (L2), or the whole building (L1).
Automatic detection connected to the fire brigade via ARC. P1 covers the whole building; P2 covers defined high-risk areas.

BS 5839 requires your fire alarm to be inspected by a competent engineer at least twice a year. Failure to maintain your system can invalidate your building insurance and constitute a criminal offence under the RRO 2005.
Our Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) contracts keep you legal and your occupants safe with scheduled visits, full written test reports and priority engineer response for faults between visits.

⚠ Important Legal Notice
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, responsible persons for commercial premises must ensure their fire detection system is properly maintained. Failure to comply can result in prosecution and unlimited fines.
A current Fire Risk Assessment is also a legal requirement. While we don't carry out FRAs directly, our engineers can advise on how your fire detection system should reflect your FRA's findings.
